Château Cheval Blanc 2006 - 75cl
Premier Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Émilion
An exceptional wine to discover on your e-shop... Château Cheval Blanc benefits from a unique and rare terroir, enjoying a special position on the Saint-Emilion plateau. While the Saint-Emilion appellation is known for its limestone formations, Château Cheval Blanc is located on the quaternary alluvium of the Isle, a non-calcareous formation with a varied texture, combining gravel and clay soils in roughly equal proportions. This particularity of the soils means that this property benefits from soils similar to those of the greatest wines of Pomerol.
Important climatic contrasts punctuated this 2006 vintage. A harsh winter preceded a very mild spring from April. While the coolness of August favoured the development of the vegetative cycle, September was marked by an episode of high temperatures before the arrival of rainfall that saved the vineyard. The harvest took place from 15 to 28 September. Despite these difficult conditions and low yields, extensive monitoring of the vineyard and rigorous sorting in the vineyard and cellar produced an exceptional, intense and fruity vintage.
