A Poetic Text to Calm Inner Storms
Eager to Explore New Realms!
Following the global triumph of "The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse" (with 150,000 copies sold in France and over a million worldwide), Les Arènes presents the continuation of this cherished quartet's adventures, as imagined by Charlie Mackesy. Titled "Forever," this book will be available internationally starting Thursday, October 9, in English, French, Dutch, German, Italian, and a total of 16 languages throughout Europe and Asia.
Two New Characters
This book reunites the four characters born from Charlie Mackesy's imagination. A boy, a mole, a fox, and a horse wander through natural landscapes, aware that life can be challenging, but their mutual affection bonds them.
The horse provides unwavering support to the others, especially to the often-taciturn fox who struggles to comprehend this friendship. While the mole has a sweet tooth for cakes, she values her group of friends above all. The boy, frequently anxious, is deeply devoted to them and fears their loss.
Midway through the story, when the boy loses all his friends, a stoat comes to comfort him.
Toward the end of the book, a polar bear joins the boy on the ice. Their brief dialogue, reminiscent of Mackesy's first work ("What do you want to be when you grow up?" "Kind," the boy answers), now delivers an ecological message for our planet.
The Storm
In this work, dark clouds appear, and the boy gradually learns what he needs to face the storm. Symbolizing life's challenging trials, whether illness, grief, or loneliness, this theme deeply resonates with the universal need for comfort.
