Through the narratives of author Laurence Dougier and the inspiring images of photographer Nicolas Mathéus, this book invites readers to explore around thirty private residences and artisan workshops nestled in the heart of the Mediterranean Basin. From Provence to Corsica, Italy, Croatia, the Balearic Islands, Greece, and Portugal, the doors open to unique creations—minimalist houses designed by an emerging generation of architects, including agencies like Block 727, Moredesign, and Atelier du Pont. These include chic and bohemian cabins in Comporta, a restored old mill by dynamic designer Piet Hein Eek, a rustic and refined masseria in Puglia, a reimagined defensive tower on the island of Lopud, an agroecological finca in the Balearic Islands, and a perched paradise on the island of Mykonos.
These tours immerse readers in various architectural and decorative styles, blending authenticity with modernity, raw with delicate. It is a beautiful tribute to materials and the artisans who shape them.
