1950s, New Orleans, during the full swing of Mardi Gras. Thanks to Weekly, a jazz producer named Faust meets Blacksad. Faust asks him to handle a case: one of his musicians, the pianist Sebastian, has disappeared. He hasn't been heard from in months, putting a star's private music label in jeopardy. Faust fears that Sebastian may have succumbed to drugs once too often. His request is all the more urgent because Faust knows he has cancer. Blacksad accepts the mission and gradually discovers that Faust hasn't told him everything. He realizes that he himself is being manipulated but nonetheless decides to find Sebastian to understand the reasons for his disappearance. He does not yet know that he will soon face one of his most challenging investigations, in more ways than one.
