Plus d’Infos

Nothing destined Guillaume Gomez, a kid from the 93rd district of Paris and the son of antique dealers, to enter the Élysée kitchens at 18 and become an orphan at 22. At 25, he became the youngest winner in his category of the prestigious Un des Meilleurs Ouvriers de France competition and went on to serve four presidents of the French Republic as their head chef. After serving Jacques Chirac, Nicolas Sarkozy, François Hollande, and Emmanuel Macron, he became the first-ever Ambassador of French Gastronomy in 2021.

In this book, he shares his exceptional journey and daily life at the Palace: the behind-the-scenes of grand receptions, the diplomatic stakes behind a state dinner, and encounters with extraordinary people, from the Queen of England to the King of Spain, from shrimp farmers in Madagascar to soldiers with whom he shared Christmas meals on a runway in an African base. For Guillaume Gomez, cooking is a school of life, a reflection of the Republic, and an art of peace. He also testifies to the role that hard work and loyalty play in one's destiny.

Guillaume Gomez sponsors the Institutes of Culinary Excellence in Madagascar, Mauritius, and Cameroon. All proceeds from the book will be donated to charitable associations.

Trained at the École de Paris des Métiers de la Table, Guillaume Gomez became a Meilleur Ouvrier de France at 25. He entered the Élysée as a station leader and climbed the ranks to become the Head of the Palace Kitchens in 2013. Appointed by Emmanuel Macron in 2021 as the first Ambassador of French Gastronomy, Guillaume Gomez is now dedicated to promoting French gastronomy worldwide and is involved in numerous associations to train young people in the culinary arts.
