Crafted from wild elderflowers hand-picked in Europe as soon as they bloom in late spring, St‑Germain is the creation of American distiller Robert Cooper. Ever-present, the elderflower doesn’t merely take centre stage: it раскры… reveals a multitude of aromas and flavours, giving this captivating liqueur striking contrasts.
Nose: Refined and elegant, very fruity (mango, passion fruit). It then develops towards citrus (pink grapefruit), spearmint and linden blossom, before the elderflower emerges alongside red berries (blueberry, wild strawberry).
Appearance: Yellow with green highlights.
Palate: Deliciously smooth and creamy. Elderflower imposes itself in the foreground, while citrus (lemon) and exotic fruits (pineapple, lychee) remain in the background. The overall impression becomes rounder with more syrupy flavours, lingering on notes of dark chocolate and juicy orange.
Finish: Long, evoking other liqueurs (vine peach, blackcurrant liqueur/crème de cassis). Opulent flowers (peony, lavender) precede hints of hazelnut, coconut milk and passion fruit. Intensely aromatic, the empty glass leaves a subtle blend of white-fleshed fruits (peach, pear) and milky notes reminiscent of an exotic fruit yoghurt.
