MARIE ANTOINETTE Pink Bust - 22 cm
Wax bust
This little known model of Marie-Antoinette of Austria is attributed to Brachard without specifying whether it is the elder, Jean-Charles-Nicolas, or the younger, Jean-Nicolas-Alexandre. The bust represents an idealized portrait of the queen of France, unlike other pieces more oriented towards the evocation of a sovereign at the height of her power. Her head slightly turned to the right, her shoulders covered with a natural knotted fabric, she is wearing a tiara decorated with a fleur-de-lis held in place by a string of pearls. A famous and controversial woman in French history, Marie Antoinette was the subject of numerous artistic representations. Many of these valuable pieces disappeared during the Revolution. Fortunately, a few copies have survived the troubles of history.
In collaboration with the Rmn - Grand Palais moulding workshop.
