To achieve this result, the brand conducted life cycle assessments of their Advent calendar packaging. This standardized method evaluates the potential environmental impacts of packaging throughout all stages of its life cycle. These analyses guide Valrhona's eco-design and packaging renovation efforts, based on ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 standards, primarily using the Eco Invent database and the PEF Method 3.1.
Using this method, Valrhona assessed impacts across 16 environmental indicators from the Environmental Footprint method defined by the European Commission and calculated a single score. Through these actions, the brand significantly reduced the overall environmental impact of their packaging.
