The vintage was demanding, requiring a strong presence in the vineyard, patience, and real expertise. Despite a few very enthusiastic reviews, the year remains highly uneven depending on the area. An unstable spring led to heavy fungal disease pressure (downy mildew), with variable damage and historically low Grenache yields due to rigorous sorting. A milder summer, with good airflow from the Mistral, improved the situation. In September, temperature swings were beneficial, but phenolic ripeness remained slow and sometimes incomplete—only estates with healthy vines able to wait and sort produced the finest wines, which are rare this year.
