Plus d’Infos

“Shuna no Tabi” (The Journey of Shuna) by Hayao Miyazaki presents a tale of a young prince named Shuna from an impoverished land, where the people toil to survive amidst hunger and barren fields. How can they cultivate the grains that their infertile land denies them?

One day, a traveler tells of a miraculous golden grain that causes fertile waves across the plains. It is said to be from a distant land to the West, inhabited by spirits hostile to humans—a journey from which no one has ever returned.

Despite the elders’ sighs and his father’s tears, Shuna embarks towards this Eldorado on his faithful yakkuru, hoping to find a way to save his people.

Along the way, he frees a young slave, Thea, and her younger sister, held captive by human traffickers. Pursued by their enemies, Shuna entrusts the two girls to his yakkuru, who flees with them to the North, while he continues alone, on foot, to the West. When he finally reaches the land of divine beings, what he witnesses will change him forever.

Will Thea reunite with Shuna? And will the young prince with a heart of gold bring back the precious grain?
